School night

Tonight we had an adoption event that was a little different. A school was having a fun fair and invited us to bring adoptable dogs. I had done this event last year with my foster, Boomer. Boomer was a 90 pound blue tick coonhound. He was great. He loved people, but got over excited and would try to jump up (and being 90 pounds that was not good). Because of this a lot of the kids avoided him.  I will go into more about Boomer later, he was a fun dog.

This year I took Rocky (who I may not have made clear is the same as Loki, same dog different name). Rocky did great. He really does love kids. His tail was going pretty much the whole time. Some of that had to do with the goodies the kids were carrying. He tended to be a favorite of the kids too. One little boy spent most of the event with him and was trying to talk his mom into adopting. His mom told him she would have to have a family discussion. They weren’t too keen on the fence jumping. They also have a cavalier King Charles spaniel (but being she is female and small it could work out). So we will see. Fingers crossed.  His mom took our card.

We did have one run in with another dog. We were walking past a larger female a Rocky decided he didn’t like her and tried to start something. No one was hurt. I think I may contact a trainer and see if there is anything we can do about this. I just don’t know his triggers. That makes it hard when people ask if he is good around other dogs.

So we are still at it. Still trying to see if the perfect home (other than mine) is out there. I have not given up hope. We may try to go out and get new profile pictures and rewrite the bio again. I have been thinking about what happens if Rocky does not get adopted. In August we have our clear the shelter event when all the adoption fees are waived. This is the event Rocky was returned at last August. This will mark 1 year back with me. I am thinking if he does not get adopted at the event it may be time to adopt him myself. We shall see what happens. But warmer weather is coming. People might be more willing to adopt. Thankfully there are tons of events coming up, including our big Rover Rescue dog show.

Have a good night all! Here is a tired Rocky after his busy night greeting kiddos.
